New Zealand
What was life like in New Zealand’s colonial era? See for yourself while at this large recreation of colonial and traditional Maori exhibition.
Discover and learn about the traditions of the Maori people while at the Maori and Colonial Museum. A combination of colonial and traditional artifacts, the most impressive pieces of this museum are what was left of the Maori culture from the 1800s, such as the ‘waka’ (war canoe), that was hand carved, and is occasionally involved in a display on the water. Another highlight of these artifacts is the recreation of a Maori meeting house called, ‘wharenui’, where you can see tools and personal items that belonged to the Maori people. The importance of keeping this history alive is instrumental in New Zealand’s heritage as locals do not want to see it forgotten.
