Martinborough

A colonial era village at the heart of the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail.

About

If you’re into your vino then this is the place to be! With over 20 wineries, most within easy walking or cycling distance, you’d be hard pressed to find a better town for sampling the grape. Reputed for having some of New Zealand’s finest pinot noir, the mostly family-run vineyards can be experienced with as part of an organised tour or on your own steam. Maps can be found at the local visitor centre to guide you. To make this visit even more special the town is packed with colonial charm, with attractive wooden houses and plenty excellent dining opportunities to be had, especially in and around the pretty village square. Central to this is the elegant Martinborough Hotel, built in 1882, which is renowned for it’s excellent food, drink and atmosphere. Not into wine? The Martinborough Brewery is also highly regarded!
