The Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum spans 800 acres of botanical gardens, natural areas with trails, and research-quality habitats. Wander the Tudor-style Alexandra Hicks Herb Knot Garden, or warm up to heat-loving plants in the 10,000+ square-foot conservatory - the largest university-operated greenhouse in the country! All of the display gardens have informative signs so you can stimulate your brain while smelling the flowers, herbs, and trees. Or stretch your legs on the hiking trails that meander through native woodlands and reclaimed prairie.
