This museum offers a fascinating window into the history and culture of Mexico's largest Anabaptist community.
The Mennonite Museum gives fascinating insight to the traditions and lifestyle of the Mennonite colonies in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. This community, part of the broader Christian Protestant denomination known as Anabaptists, includes Mennonites of Central European origin, akin to groups like the Amish. Through a meticulously recreated traditional Mennonite household, complete with architectural elements like a tunnel-like hallway separating living quarters from stables, the museum provides insight into the Mennonites' unique approach to technology. Within its walls, you'll find an array of traditionally crafted items, including toys, furniture, and agricultural tools and machinery. A cafeteria within the museum showcases recipes that incorporate beloved Mexican cheeses like "queso Chihuahua" or "queso menonita." The museum welcomes visitors from 9AM to 6PM, Monday to Saturday, with an admission fee of MXN $35 per person.
