Learn about the history and process of coal mining at the largest industrial heritage site in Flanders.
Opened in 2012, the Mining Museum is housed in Beringen’s 100,000 m² mine site - the largest industrial heritage site in Flanders. Visitors can explore this unique industrial site on their own, or join a guided tour, led by a former miner, to go down into the preserved heart of the mine. In the museum, visitors can learn about local mines and mining history through testimonials, a huge touchscreen, and plenty of audio-visual presentations.
