Watch ships pass through the Panama Canal and learn about the history of one of the world’s most important waterways.
The Miraflores Visitor Center, offers the easiest way for landlubbers to visit the Panama Canal. The heart of this modern, four-story center is a museum that tells the story of the canal's history, operations, expansion and ecology. This is done through both exhibitions, and an instructive 15-minute film. The building has several viewing platforms from which you can watch ships pass through the canal - the best being on the 4th floor. While the canal has about 40 ships pass through it a day, traffic is heaviest between 9AM to 11AM and 3PM to 5PM.
