Egypt
This large open-air museum preserves some of the only surviving of artefacts of the legendary ancient Egyptian capital.
The Mit Rahina Museum was built around a colossal statue of Ramses II in order to protect this important piece of history. Fallen onto its back, visitors are given a great opportunity to examine the remarkably well-preserved statue - even its nipples are sharp. In the courtyard surrounding this is an interesting lapidarium with some unusual stone relics, such as the largest alabaster sphinx ever found (of course bearing the visage of Ramses II), and an embalming table.
