Mosta

A small yet vibrant city nestled in Northern Malta boasts one of the world’s most magnificent basilica’s and historical gems nestled amongst an agricultural landscape.

About

Mosta is one of the largest towns on the island of Malta, surrounded by the villages of Naxxar, Rabat, Burmarrad and Lija. The most stunning landmark in the town is the Rotunda, a grand basilica constructed by Mosta’s parishioners. It boasts the world’s third-largest unsupported dome and houses a replica of a German bombshell that famously pierced the dome during World War II without detonating upon impact. Visit on the 15th of August for Mosta’s famous parish feast of the Assumption that draws locals and tourists for vibrant festivities and traditions. For aviation enthusiasts, the Malta Aviation Museum is a must-visit. Located on the outskirts of Mosta, the museum showcases exhibits with a spacious hangar dedicated to the Air Battle of Malta. Art enthusiasts can stop by the Farmhouse of the Marquis Mallia Tabone for a scenic farmhouse overlooking the valley of Wied il-Ghasel, holding exhibitions throughout the year. Its rich heritage and captivating attractions makes Mosta a delightful experience in Malta’s northern region.
