An easy hike up this glacial relic rewards visitors with stunning panoramas.
The Mount Iron Track works its way up a 250-meter-tall rocky knoll that was left behind from when glaciers carved their way across Wanaka during the last Ice Age. The easy-going trail slowly works its way through low kānuka shrubland up to the summit, where you’ll be able to enjoy amazing 360-degree views of the The Pisa range, the Upper Clutha Basin, Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps/Kā Tiritiri o te Moana. There are also some handy information panels here to help identify what you’re seeing.
