Muhweza Hot Springs

The Muhweza Hot Springs are a hidden gem located in the southern part of Burundi, surrounded by lush vegetation and peaceful nature. Formed by two basins, the springs are produced by geo-thermally heated groundwater from the earth’s crust and can warm up to 37.3 degrees celsius. Traditionally, one basin is used by men, while the other is more private and reserved for women. The local people believe the springs hold healing powers for several illnesses due to its high mineral content, and many people visit to relieve stress and soothe aching muscles. Along with its therapeutic benefits, the springs are the perfect destination for a picnic, with tall trees providing shade and a serene atmosphere.
