Naamadha Chilume

This tranquil oasis holds historical and mythological significance, as it is said that Lord Rama, along with Sita and Lakshmana, graced this spot during their forest exile.

About

Naamadha Chilume, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Devarayanadurga near Tumkur, Karnataka, is a divine natural spring believed to be the sacred origin of the Jayamangali River. The legend unfolds with Rama's quest for water to apply tilaka on his forehead. Faced with an absence of water, he shot an arrow into the rock, creating a small hole from which the sacred spring, Namada Chilume, emerged. This enchanting site remains a place of reverence, where the water flows ceaselessly, symbolizing purity and divinity. While exploring this sacred haven, it's advisable to be mindful of the resident monkeys, known for their spirited antics. The area caters to families and nature enthusiasts, providing parks for children and spaces for leisurely lunches amid the lush surroundings.
