New Zealand
Revered for its Chardonnay in particular, this organic vineyard rose from humble beginnings to international recognition.
Established in 1978, Neudorf Vineyards was a dream of a couple of amateur wine producers with little experience in wine making. Over four decades later and they are making incredibly well renowned wines, recommended by sommeliers and gourmet experts from across Australasia. The vast majority of their wines are officially certified as organic, and the rest are just awaiting approval. They produce their very own compost, and use sheep to control the pasture and add nutrient back into the soil which in turn minimizes the use of tractors. The staff love talking about wine, and will happily offer you tastings for groups of less than 6 (larger groups can be arranged in advance). You can enjoy a bottle, or two, of wine in the lovely garden with a selection of cheese, meat and crackers from the mini deli. Proceeds from the wine tasting goes towards a helicopter rescue charity.
