Steeped in unspoiled beauty, the Okatse canyon near the village of Zeda-Gordy outside Kutaisi, was once one of Georgia's best-kept secrets. With the recent addition of a suspension bridge, the canyon was transformed into a must-visit destination for explorers from around the globe. The adventure begins at the canyon's visitor center, nestled on the edge of the Zeda-Gordy village. Here, you can secure your tickets and marvel at a scale model of the canyon. The journey from the visitor center to the start of the suspension bridge is a 1.5 mile hike, whisking you through stunning landscapes. En route to the bridge, you'll see an enchanting forest, where the remnants of the medieval palace and the historic Dadiani forests lie in quiet slumber. The descending pathway on the way to the bridge is gentle and agreeable, and the return journey involves a constant climb. The canyon's lush greenery, so vibrant it seems to almost glow, will bring to mind scenes straight out of Jurassic Park. The visitor centre provides a variety of amenities including a café, souvenir shop, lockers, and parking. The site’s open for visitors from 10:00 to 17:30, excluding Mondays. It's advisable to don comfortable walking shoes and bring along drinking water for the journey.
