This medieval city's historic architecture, particularly its UNESCO-listed town hall, are giant works of art.
The small town of Oudenaarde hides many surprises to its visitors. Despite the size, it has been nicknamed the "City of Art" for its rich collection of historic architecture. In the city center, visitors will find the Flamboyant Gothic Town Hall and its exceptional belfry. Built in the 16th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site's facade is a structural work of art. Inside is the Tourist Information Center, and the town museum with its famous tapestry collection. The religious history of the Oudenaarde is well reminded by two stunning churches - the Church of Our Lady of Pamele and the Church of St Walburga. Cycling fans among visitors won't be disappointed either as the town is home to the Tour of Flanders museum, which is dedicated to the well-known bicycle race.
