Pattaya

Though best known for its nightlife, this beach resort city offers plenty of more low-key attractions.

About

Pattaya was a tiny fishing village until the 1960s when American GIs visited the town for some R&R and raved about the experience. Today, the city is one of the most popular resort destinations in Thailand, with the go-go bars on Walking Street and 4 kilometer-long beach offering something for bachelors and families alike. Jutting out into the water, the Sanctuary of Truth is a one-of-a-kind temple covered in intricate carvings that walks the line between art and architecture. At Pattaya’s floating market you can enjoy everything from traditional food to a foot massage in an amphibious shopping village. Orchid lovers will want to head to the 2.4 sq km Nong Nooch Garden to admire the beautifully landscaped park, catch a cultural show, or enjoy a bite to eat. Pattaya’s other unique theme park is Mini Siam and Mini Europe, where landmarks from around Thailand and Europe have been crafted in 1:25 scale.
