Romania’s first digital museum is a unique blend of bold architecture, modern technology, classic culture.
Opened in 2013, this futuristic looking building is a clever combination of ecological and technological design. The sloping, grass covered back of the building catches and recycles rain-water, while the exposed front it covered in solar panels. In addition to capturing solar-energy, the pointed entryway doubles as a sundial. Inside, 45” touchscreens, projectors and 3D TVs are used to educate visitors on the area’s cultural and natural heritage, or allow visitors to see any other museum in the world in 3D. There’s even a traditional oven that was used for making the town’s famous bread - a favourite of dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, who had the bread trucked flown to him every day.
