The symbol of the region, this historic hilltop stupa holds celebrations every full moon.
It’s believed the Phu That Pagoda was first built in the 14th century by the Thai king Phachao Xaysetha Thirath for ceremonial purposes. This tradition has been preserved to this day, with locals holding religious ceremonies and festivals here on the day of the full moon. Along with the historic stupa and elegant temple, Phu That’s hilltop position offers stupendous panoramic views, especially at sunset when the giant golden Buddha statue is backed by vibrantly colored skies.
