Located near Galle on the South coast of Sri Lanka, Pilana Puraana Sri Maha Viharayais a small Buddhist Temple nestled amongst natural beauty. Situated on a hill encircled by paddy fields and a green bountiful forest as far as the eye can see, you will have no trouble finding inner peace and tranquility here. Walk through the golden gate and up the white steps to view the temple up close and also get a better view of the surrounding lush landscape. The Temple is particularly well known in the south of the island for its historical Perahera festival, a cultural festival held annually across Sri Lanka, where the Temple becomes decorated in enchanting colorful lights and a unique festival of fascinating local dances and ceremonies takes place.
