This medieval church is stunning example of the Byzantine architecture in and idyllic setting.
Porta Panagia's history goes back to 1283 when it was constructed as a part of a local monastery, which was later destroyed. The well-preserved church is a perfect example of the Byzantine-style Orthodox architecture, withe heavy stonework complimented by refined ornamentation. Porta Panagia is beautifully decorated, with even its double and triple-arched windows featuring ceramic decoration. The moasaics depicting Jesus are particularly eye-catching, as is the restored marble templon. The church is open daily from 8 AM to 12 PM and from 4 PM to 8 PM (the time differs in winter season).
