Find relaxation or thrills on the banks of one of the oldest reservoirs in South America.
The Potrero de los Funes can trace its roots back to 1860, when the Funes family built one of the first levees in South America. In 1876 the levee was rebuilt after torrential flooding destroyed the original, and in 1927, this was replaced with a dam to create a reservoir to meet the growing water supply needs of the nearby provincial capital. The healthy stock of fish made Potrero de los Funes popular for local anglers, but the little lakeside town garnered international attention when its ring road was transformed into a FIA GT race circuit. While they’ve since stopped hosting, you can still have your driver take you for a spin down the track, with the lake just on the other side of the barrier wall. Or, head down to the waterfront park to relax by the shore or rent a kayak for a pleasant paddle.
