Queenscliff is drenched in history, and played a huge role in Australia’s defense during the first and second World Wars. The Fort Queenscliff Museum gives insight into the military heritage of the town, while the Queenscliff Maritime Museum showcases its rich maritime history. For a more general look into the history of the town, the Queenscliff Historical Museum is the place to be. Surrounded by three sides of water and gorgeous beaches, the coastline is dotted with historical piers. The harbour is a bustling, working boat yard with space for more than 200 boats including fishing and shipping vessels, and plenty of yachts. The marina area is peppered with trendy bars and restaurants, cafes and clothing stores and a fantastic place to while away time as you watch the world go by. For panoramic views over the bay, don’t miss the 40 metre high Queenscliff Harbour Observation tower where you can revel in the spectacular seaside scenery.
