Latvia
The largest collection of classic cars in the Baltics showcases a fascinating mixture of Eastern and Western engineering.
Founded in 1989 on an initiative from Latvia Antique Automobile Club, the Riga Motormuseum has since grown to become the largest classic car museum in the Baltics, and has been a state museum since 1992. Among the museum’s 230 exhibits, visitors will find vehicles from the late 1800s to the end of the 20th century. Along with racing and record-breaking autos, the museum has a fascinating collection of Soviet vehicles, as well as freight and military machinery. One of the most pieces on display is a replica of the 1938 Auto Union racing car Type D. The original car was saved from the scrap heap by Viktors Kulbergs, president of Antique Automobile Club of Latvia, who exchanged the original for a replica with Audi in 1995. The classic cars are supplemented by modern displays and interactive installations for visitors to immerse themselves in the world of autos.
