Rijeka Crnojevica

Rijeka Crnojevica was a royal winter residence for its mild weather and good connections as a trading post, but today, it is best known for hiking and canoeing

About

Today, Rijeka Crnojevica is one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it towns, but during its economic height in the 15th century, it was a regional trading center. Later, in the 1600s, it was the winter residence of the Petrovic dynasty. Its most iconic landmark is its bridge, which is in the same condition as when it was first built in 1853. During the warm months of spring and summer, visitors mostly come to Rijeka Crnojevica for its access to scenic hiking trails that lead up into the mountains and down along the riverbanks. Many companies use the village as a launching point for boat tours and kayaking, which are great ways to see the raw natural beauty of southern Montenegro from the water. After a long day of outdoor sports, round out your trip with a meal at one of its riverside restaurants.
