Puerto Rico
Dive into Puerto Rico’s proud sporting history in one of the world’s best sports museums.
Just outside of San Juan, the Roberto Clemente Museum houses the largest collection of memorabilia dedicated to the beloved Pittsburgh Pirate and humanitarian, Roberto Clemente. Over the course of his illustrious 18-year career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Clemente won every accolade awarded by the MLB including being named MVP of the National League in and the World Series. During the off season, he dedicated his time to charity work around the Caribbean, and it was during one such trip, bringing supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua that he died in a plane crash. The Roberto Clemente Museum exhibits preserve both aspects of his legacy within the larger Puerto Rico Sports Museum, which itself is dedicated to the island’s sporting history dating back to its indigenous inhabitants. One of the museum's main attractions is the life-size statues of renowned athletes, including, of course, Roberto Clemente. To buy tickets, please visit https://museoclementepr.com/
