Sai Yok

The prince of Thailand himself wrote a song about this park’s natural beauty.

About

The Sai Yok National Park is known throughout Thailand for its picturesque waterfalls. After King Rama V visited in 1888, his brother Prince Niris compose a song about the beauty of the falls, which cemented them in the Thai consciousness. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, monkeys, deer, and even the world’s smallest mammal - the Kittis Hog-Nosed Bat, which you might come across on you jungle trek. Unlike many national parks, Sai Yok has clearly marked trails that don’t require visitors to be accompanied by a guide. The park is also riddled with caves, some of which are within easy reach of the park visitors center, making for a quick way to get your fill of bats and stalactites - just remember to take a flashlight with you if you’re planning on exploring them as they’re unlit.
