Argentina
Famous for hosting the assembly where Argentina’s first constitution was signed in 1853, this underrated city features historic colonial buildings and a scenic suspension bridge.
Situated to the west bank of the Parana River is the captivating yet underrated city of Santa Fe. Founded in 1573 by Juan de Garay, the capital city of the Santa Fe province, the city moved to its current location in1651 due to flooding issues. Sante Fe is known to Argentinians as the place their first constitution was signed, and it hosted multiple Constitutional Conventions in the 20th century. But Santa Fe's most famous landmark is the suspension bridge across the Parana River. Walk across it for beautiful coastal views, especially at night when the bridge is illuminated against the night sky. Stroll alongside the bridge at the redeveloped ‘costanera’ (waterfront) and try some freshly caught fish at one of the riverside restaurants whilst enjoying the views. Exploring the city center, you will find well-preserved historical and colonial buildings such as Convento San Francisco, a pristine and charming 17th century church that features a museum containing religious and colonial artifacts. Finish with a visit to the Cerveceria Santa Fe where the local beer is crafted for an insight into the brewing process and a refreshing beer tasting experience.
