Nestled into a cliff, this sanctuary sits 774 metres above the stunning landscapes of the Adige Valley.
11th-century monks used this site as a hermitage before the Santuario Madonna Della Corona was built two centuries later. Even today this breathtaking place continues to inspire quiet contemplation. This pilgrimage site harbors a replica of the Scala Sancta, the staircase Jesus climbed to face Pontius Pilate on the day of his trial. To reach the church visitors have to take a short walk from the town of Spiazzi. The shortest route (10-15 min) is down the stairs ending with a dramatic view of the church. Visitors can also take a picturesque trail (20 min) along 14 sculptures depicting the Stations of the Cross. Alternatively, a shuttle bus leaves for the sanctuary every 15-30 min. As this is a functioning church, visitors are advised to dress modestly.
