Seoraksan National Park

This UNESCO Biosphere Protection site and breathtaking national park encompasses the magnificent Seoraksan Mountain, creating a stunning spectacle of nature.

About

Seoraksan National Park holds immense significance as Korea's first national park named under the National Park Law in 1970. Known for its stunning views, crystal-clear mountain streams, and diverse flora and fauna, Seoraksan National Park is a haven for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The park covers an extensive area of 163.6 square kilometers, spanning four cities and counties. It features a variety of hiking trails, including the iconic Daecheongbong Peak, standing at 1,708 meters, and Ulsanbawi Rock, a famous rock formation composed of six granite peaks. Within the park's awe-inspiring landscape, visitors can explore two historically significant Buddhist temples: Baekdamsa and Sinheungsa. Sinheungsa, considered one of the oldest Seon temples globally, now serves as the head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. Meanwhile, Baekdamsa, known as the 'Hundred Pool Temple,' features picturesque pools fed by clear water from Daecheongbong Peak's slopes. The park's natural beauty and ecological importance have earned it a spot on UNESCO's tentative World Heritage Site list.
