Shakaland

Immerse yourself in Zulu culture at this reconstructed village, which appeared in the famous Shaka Zulu tv show.

About

Shakaland was founded to pay homage to the history of South Africa’s Zulu nation. Both the attraction and tribe became world famous thanks to the 1980s ‘Shaka Zulu’ TV series. In fact, the only surviving Zulu kraal from the show is the basis for Shakaland. Visitors are led on a 3 hour tour of the village, where you’ll see King Shaka’s kraal, learn about the life of the king, and see local craftsmen weaving baskets, making ceramic and brewing beer. You’ll be able to enjoy this distinctive brew with the chief and his wives. Visitors can also take part in an even more immersive overnight experience where you’ll be treated to displays of even more customs. Advance bookings are recommended.
