Taiwan
Often described as the most picturesque waterfall in Taiwan, this natural attraction is Taiwan’s answer to Niagara Falls
Shifen Waterfall stands as one of the most picturesque sites in Taiwan. Although not the tallest, it's the widest waterfall in the country, boasting dimensions of 66 feet in height and 131 feet in width. Located just outside New Taipei City, this horseshoe-shaped cascade draws vast numbers of visitors with its fast-flowing waters reminiscent of the famous Niagara Falls. The waterfall's other nickname, "Rainbow Pond," originates from the sunlit reflections that create a rainbow against the waterfall. Along the river, the water's uneven flow traps and spins rocks, carving deep holes and creating an abundance of potholes, especially prominent in the Dahua Station area. This constant erosion adds to the site's natural charm. For nature enthusiasts journeying to Taiwan, Shifen Waterfall is a must-visit. It's open daily except on Lunar New Year's Eve. Opening Hours: June-September: 9:00-18:00 (last entry at 17:30). October-May: 9:00-17:00 (last entry at 16:30).
