Shioya Shrine

The Shioya Shrine is located in the Shioya area of the coastal city of Otaru. Begin your stop at the vibrant and hard to miss red torii gate (traditional Japanese gate that marks the entrance to sacred shrines) from which you will enter and walk up the slope to the shrine, the pathway beautifully lined with trees, blossoming pink in the spring, changing to vibrant green in the summer and rich earthy red and orange tones in the fall. Reach the top to be treated to the sight of the charming shrine building, adorned with a red painted roof and intricate and traditional decorations standing out boldly against the stunning and serene backdrop of towering trees. Get a goshuin stamp here (traditional stamps received when visiting shrines), admire the views and feel the peaceful atmosphere at this serene and well-preserved shrine.
