About
Sidi Bouhlel canyon is named for a nearby shrine, but for many visitors, it’s best known as the “Star Wars Canyon.” Numerous scenes from Star Wars: A New Hope were filmed here, such as when R2-D2 was taken by Jawas, and when Luke Skywalker was rescued from Tusken Raiders by Obi-Wan Kenobi. It’s also where Indiana Jones threatened to blow up the Ark of the Covenant and also appeared in The English Patient. Even if you’re not a film buff, the rocky landscape is sure to inspire some desert scenes of your own.
