Skofja Loka (Slovene for “Bishop’s Meadow”) is one of the oldest settlements in Slovenia, dating back to the year 973. The city’s old town has been protected as a historical monument since 1987. The charming old town square is a hub of social life with many excellent place to eat and drink. In the city, you can also find St. Jacob’s church and Skofja Loka Castle & Museum. Climb to the top of the castle for a beautiful view of the Slovenian Alps.
