Austria
The Big 3 offer big mountain views of the Ötz valley.
Around 3200 BCE, people began immigrating to the Ötztal Valley, as is evidenced by the famous Ötzi, the Iceman, who lived between the Neolithic and Bronze Age. Since then, Solden has been bountious for farmers, skiers and archaeologists. As a ski resort, it's a winter hotspot, and the population sometimes quadruples with eager skiers, but the summer is also a great time to visit. Sölden is Austria's first resort to have three mountain peaks beyond 3,000 m- called the BIG 3 - which are easily accessible by ski lifts. From the BIG 3, you are offered panoramic views of the Alpine scenery. Visitors from all over come to see these panoramic views and compare them to scenes from James Bond’s Spectre, which was shot here. Drive along the 15 km Ötztaler Glacier Road, the second highest paved road in Europe, for breathtaking views from every curve of the road.
