New Zealand
Brush up on your ’Simpsons’ trivia as you enter the town that pays homage to the iconic series.
Springfield. Fictional town for one of the most well known comedy series, or an actual town? Both! The town of Springfield sits just west of Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island. Its claim to fame is the pink doughnut statue that sits on the road that passes through this small town. When ‘The Simpsons Movie’ premiered, 20th Century Fox Studios gifted the real life town of Springfield a giant pink doughnut, in honor of the town’s name. In 2009 it was unfortunately set on fire, and was replaced by a painted pink tire, until a new statue could be erected, and this one is fireproof!
