An old mining town turned holiday haven, this town’s most famous resident is Rose, the ghost of a working girl who is said to haunt the town’s hotel.
Whether you want to experience some nightly scares or just relax aside a gorgeous clear-blue lake, the town of Saint Bathans has plenty of appeal. When gold and coal could no longer be mined, much of the population left Saint Bathans and yet every holiday season plenty of visitors flock to this well-preserved ghost town. The mining quarry was filled with water to create the beautiful lake that now sits near the town. While only about 10 permanent residents call the town home nowadays, people come particularly in January to the village festival which even includes a ghost hunt. Truly the fame of the town comes from the dark stories told over a couple of ales at the local inn, which mainly involve some unfortunate lost soul roaming the old buildings but if you would rather avoid the ghosts, come during the day and admire those very buildings that have stood their from the 19th century and still reflect the aesthetic of the age.
