The cyan swimming hole in the middle of this rich rainforest is so clean you can drink from it.
Covering over 500 hectares of lush tropical rainforest, St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park is home to over 200 bird species, as well as countless other wildlife species, including very vocal howler monkeys. Within the jungle is the “Blue Hole” - a nearly perfectly circular swimming hole fed by an underground stream. Since the pool is essentially a massive spring, the cool, refreshing water is clean enough to drink while you swim! For the more adventurous, St. Herman’s Cave offers the combined treat of seeing beautiful cave formations and Mayan artefacts in the same place. You can explore the first 200 yards by yourself, or hire a guide to traverse the cave completely.
