Suisun Bay Ghost Fleet

Learn about American protectionism in this massive example of military might.

About

During the Second World War, the Suisun Bay Fleet was intended to be used as an active reserve of over 350 ships. Originally ready for deployment in under 20 days notice, the lack of wartime materialization has resulted in a rusting shell of America’s wartime spirit. As the years went on, the fleet has been significantly reduced and is now down to ten ships that are open to visitation. The main attraction is the USS Iowa, which was a transport vessel for President Roosevelt. The USS Iowa now serves as a museum ship.
