Built in the 15th century, Svirzh Castle's location among small lakes, moats, and marshes is no accident. Its planners had the foresight to plan for future threats, so utilized natural barriers in a picture-perfect manor. Despite these precautions, the castle was conquered on several occasions by rebellious Cossacks. Today, visitors can learn about the castle's tumultuous history, or simply enjoy the scenery that gave attackers so much trouble.
