Ride off into the desert like Lawrence of Arabia on this time-honored mode of transport.
Swakopmund Camel Farm was established 30 years ago as a traditional farm with cows, chickens, geese and donkeys, and a caravan of camels. In order to promote their traditional way of living, the farm invites visitors to join in a camel caravan with options for rides lasting between 30 minutes and 2 hours. While camels are famously cantankerous, the handlers manage to keep their herd placid. Standing over 2 meters tall, camels can be intimidating, but after a lurching to their feet, the ride feels not unlike the gentle rocking of a boat. While camels are specially suited for the desert, you’ll want a hat, sunscreen, glasses, and water to fend off the heat and harsh sun.For more information please visit www.swakopmundcamelfarm.com
