South Africa
From the Boer War to glassmaking, this fascinating museum gives a comprehensive look at life in the region.
The Talana Museum is set in the 20 acre heritage park that marks part of the Talana Battlefield - the first battle of the Anglo-Boer war. Just outside the quiet town of Dundee, the museum gives an overview of life in the area. Here you’ll find exhibits on everything from pioneers and bushmen, to the local coal mining and glass industry, as well as domestic life and the wars waged here. Visitors can also follow a trail through the Talana battlefield for a self-guided tour, and pick up audio-cassette tours for the nearby Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift battlefields. For even deeper insights, you can also request an experienced guide at the museum. For more information, please visit www.talana.co.za
