Located near the Algerian border, Tamaghza Golden Canyon is the largest mountain oasis in Tunisia. Amidst the scorching desert, the cool fresh water and green palm trees has been a respite for centuries. Along with being able to explore the rocky canyon, visitors can also walk through the ruins of an abandoned village, which likely has existed since Roman times. Film lovers might recognize the oasis from The English Patient.
