These picturesque waterfalls are just the cherry on top of a hike through the UNESCO-listed Batad rice terraces.
The Tappiyah Falls are tucked away in the mountains of Banaue. But before reaching the falls, visitors have to trek around 45 minutes through the beautiful Batad Rice terraces. Tumbling down a verdant valley, they’re believed to date back 2000 years, and are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a feat of ingenious ancient engineering. The hike to the falls isn’t the easiest, but the view of the 70-meter cascade, and opportunity to cool off in the refreshing waters is a welcome respite. The hike back is all uphill, so takes a little longer, but you’ll be able to enjoy a different perspective of this UNESCO-listed landscape. The recommended time is for a brief stop at the falls. Please add more time to your stop if you’d like to spend more time at Tappiyah.
