As its name suggests, this ancient yellowwood towers above the surrounding forest canopy.
The Big Tree in Tsitsikamma is a straight shooter. Estimated to be between 600 and 800 years old, it has a 9 meter trunk circumference, and stands 36.6 meters tall. While not quite a sequoia, it’s a seriously large tree, and an outstanding yellowwood specimen. A shady boardwalk makes for an easy walk to the tree, and a pleasant journey through the jungle where you might catch a glimpse of some indigenous wildlife.
