The church might be modern, but is filled with the same peaceful ambience and vibrant frescoes of the orthodox churches of old.
Apatin’s premier location near the Danube, with a wealth of surrounding resources has attracted people for hundreds of years - dating back to the Sarmatians. Over the centuries, other tribes moved in, and then empires, such as the Romans, who transformed Apatin into a fortified settlement, and Hungarian. Despite all this, little remains of the town’s historical roots, making this church all the more important. Consecrated in 2008, with several bishops in attendance, the interior is decorated from floor to ceiling in vibrant frescoes, complete with an intricately-carved reredos adorned with icons, making it an artistic landmark for posterity.
