The stunning decorations preserved within this 18th century synagogue are a beautiful memorial to the lost Jewish community.
Built in 1761, Łańcut Synagogue is one of Poland’s most precious sacred monuments. The interior of this Baroque Synagogue is richly decorated with polychromy and stucco works, and now serves as the Museum of Judaica. The synagogue’s decorations depict traditional subjects like Noah, musical instruments mentioned in the Book of Psalms, as well as fantastical, like a mer-deer (that’s a deer with the body of a fish). For many visitors, the synagogue is a social monument, standing as a reminder of the rich culture of Łańcut’s lost Jewish community.
