This UNESCO-listed tomb is a harmonious marriage of natural beauty and opulent architecture.
Minh Mang Tomb was built for King Minh Mang, the second Emperor of the Nguyen dynasty. The emperor had 40 structures erected here, including palaces, pavilions, and temples, all of which lie along a single, straight path. Accessed via the three-doored Dai Hong Mon Gate (the center door was only opened to admit the emperor’s body), the beautifully ornamented buildings are just one half of the tomb. A staunch Confuscionist, Minh Mang intended his tomb to be a public park, and connected the tombs buildings with landscaped gardens, terraces, lakes, and bridges.
