This lush nature reserve sits in a massive volcanic crater filled with curious cone-shaped hills and other-worldly outcroppings.
Renowned for its beautiful and unique landscape, Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve became Victoria’s first National Park in 1892. Settlers had exploited the land for many years before a massive re-vegetation initiative took place in 1961. At that time, the surrounding wetlands were rejuvenated and native species were introduced. Kangaroos, wallabies and waterbirds roam the extinct volcanic crater occasionally greet tourists that walk along the boardwalks today. Take a self-guided tour to see how lava, molten rock and ash shaped the land and formed such a unique landscape. Guided tours are available to learn about the massive undertaking and conservation efforts put in place to save the land. Guided tours range from 90-120 minutes and can be booked online in advance.
