This historic castle, located in northern Croatia, dates back to the 13th century. It’s situated on a hill and is surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a truly magnificent sight.
The site consists of the Trakošćan Castle, the building next to the castle, the park and forest park (with a lake). The castle’s architecture is made up of Gothic, Neo-gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. It features historic collections on display including: the knight’s room, the hunting room, the music salon and study room of Julijana Erdödy (the first Croatian woman to gain the title of academic painter), and other smaller collections as well. There is also a firearms collection on display, dating back to the 15th-19th century.
