Tunuyán

This small city is a great place to sample the fruits of the Uco Valley.

About

If you’re traveling through the region of Mendoza or the Uco Valley, a mecca for wine connoisseurs, the city of Tunuyán is an excellent place for a little detour. This small city of about 50 thousand inhabitants is located close to the Chilean border and the majestic Andes, hosting tourists attracted to not only wine but rural and extreme sports tourism. While San Martin Avenue and the nearby squares are the heart of the city, Carlos Pellegrini Pedestrian Street is where one would sit down for a cup of coffee – luckily, there are many on the street to choose from. Tunuyán is also a good place for a lunch stop at one of the traditional venues that serve picada, which is an assortment of regional snacks, or parrillada, a mixed grilled meat plate. Of course, you can’t go wrong with visiting one of the local wineries, many of them located on the outskirts of the city.
